Human emotion is one of the most powerful communicative devices we have, a paradigm that compels us to interact and be drawn in. It brings out compassion, empathy and unity as we relate our shared experiences.

Kyle Barnes work captures human emotion caught in a fleeting moment in time. The pouring paint quickly and eventually swamps the whole subject, or pulls back to reveal their natural state again. The work is a snapshot of the inevitable, a state of uncertainty wherein we question whether the subjects are being engulfed or freed from the situation in which they find themselves.
