Featured Artist: Faith XLVII
Faith XLVII is an internationally-acclaimed visual artist from South Africa currently based in Los Angeles. Channeling the international destinations that have been imprinted on her after two decades of interacting with urban environments as one of the most renowned and prolific muralists, her work is both an internal and spiritual release that speaks to the complexities of the human condition, its deviant histories and existential search.
For this year’s Moniker Art Fair, Faith XLVII premiers a new video installation ‘The Disintegration of Self’, a visual exploration of the inherent aesthetic beauty of the Atom Bomb: the ultimate symbol of war and humanity’s capacity for destruction.
Aged, torn curtains provide the surface for the artist’s images, while ancient Sanskrit chants permeate the room, bringing visitors closer to the devastation and poetry of the work.
